The seismograph in Park Headquarters at the foot of Mt Ruapehu.

Ruapehu erupting, in 1995 or 1996
                                                    Ngauruhoe erupting, August 1967.
This is how we carried our sleeping bags etc. No back packs. The children did very well.
One year we persuaded some neighbours to come with us. Phil on the left, his workmate on the right. The workmates wife is back at the hut. Their daughters in green and blue jackets. Vivian is our blonde daughter and the boy is our son Peter. I took the photo.
An empty dyke in the wall of Red Crater.
The Emerald Lake, with Central Crater to the left.
Looking across Central Crater at Blue Lake.
Another view. Very spotty photos. I must find the negs some time to see if I can get better pictures.
Looking across Roto Aira to Lake Taupo from the Ketetahi track on Tongariro. I think we are heading back down to the hut from the top.
Looking into North Crater on Mt Tongariro.

My son and I heading across to North Crater on Tongariro.

Paddling in the warm water of Emerald Lake below the steaming cliffs of Red Crater.
